My 2000 Buick Regal had an access plate in the trunk...I got a new $50 fuel pump from ebay and it took about 1 hour to put it in as I had to put on new electrical ends as it plugged in different.....I think I could do the next one in 30 minutes or less...The hardest part was crawling in and out of the trunk...To replace the pump on my 1991 Buick Regal you had to drop the tank..
I once had a 1977 Toyota Celica GT that also had a access panel in the trunk....You could stand on the ground and replace the in tank pump..
