I live in Wisconsin and they also put the brine down. In Wisconsin it is not beet juice it is salt brine. If you drive on it when it is wet you are doing a lot of damage to youe auto. If it is dry it still can cause damage but if you run your car through a car wash once in a while you can undo most of the damage. The auto makers are not pushing it, it is the insurance co. The state tells the workers to put it down to help prevent ice build up, to try to save lives. You can replace or fix your car ,but a human life is more important then a auto.
