IMHO, not if they are in fact low-pressure pumps designed for use in a carbureted system
Do you have a screen ahead of the electric fuel pump to keep debris out as most mfg. of those pumps require?
What brand of pump are you using? I have had the best luck with the square FACET units. NAPA is one source.
Also, I recently dealt with a truck we thought multiple electric fuel pumps had failed, and it turned out to be a plastic "Caplug" that had inadvertently got into the tank was intermittently floating around and blocking the tank outlet.
