The honey, lemon juice and whiskey (So Co was specified in the Original Recipe we got), seems to be popular, but I can't attest to it's effectiveness. I finally got slow enough (overworked and over tired) that a cold caught up with me last week brought home from DsD's working with children) - first one that amounted to more than a sniffle in about 8 years. Been treating it with hot ginger tea with our own honey, some homeopathic remedies, and a little extra rest soaking up heat by the wood stove. And no, my chores are not really getting done as I rest and recuperate, they're accumulating.
There was another cure I sampled about 30 years ago, made by a nurse from a recipe she got from some elder, that contained garlic, olive oil, some other seeds and herbs (forgotten what all), and was kept in a fridge. She swore by it. It tasted so bad, you made yourself well just to avoid another dose. Sure could have used a spoonful of that a few days ago.
