Lots of good information given. I might add that I am lucky that I seldom have a cold.
I think the reason is that I wash my hands frequently and try to stay away from people having colds. I am not OCD just cautious!
Years ago, when I worked in a manufacturing plant, my doctor advised me to wash my hands, especially after shaking someone's hand, not that they are unclean, just a precaution.
He also said that there would never be a cure for the common cold for two main reasons---so many different strands and it would really upset retail trade for the medical field.
