Would he have gone down as a good or great president had he not been assassinated? Who knows. Political historians are arguing that point now. I know he was well liked by a lot of folks. He was a WWII vet and hero but so were a lot of others. Lot of Korean war hero's too. And yes he did die while in service of this country. I've visited his grave when I was a young teen.
