I had one of two block heaters seeping in my Ford 6610 Diesel.
I drained the antifreeze out today and changed them. There was a little corrosion around the hole that they fit it. The holes cleaned up nicely with emery cloth, I put a little grease on and the new ones slid in nicely. The antifreeze was 10 years old, so I changed it with new cool guard. The anti cavitation additive in the new stuff is supposed to be good for four years, so I should be fine on that. I warmed it up, topped it off, then will do it once more tomorrow to get it completely full.
I plugged both heaters in quickly to the AC before installing, then after they were installed to make sure they did not trip the GFCI breaker. I would rather find a bad one before refilling the antifreeze.
