If you can afford the $$, go with the iPad. In my line of work I manage corporate mobile devices, and we have both iOS (iPhone, iPad) as well as Androids. By far the preferred choice is iPhone and iPad. You can purchase the Android devices for less, but usually when $$ is taken out of the equation, the preference is the ipad. I purchased an Andoid tablet for my wife a few years ago, and ended up getting her an iPad as she was not using the Android. She actually uses the iPad, although not as much as I thought she would. Since I have to perform troubleshooting of issues I have both types, but the Androids stay in the bag until I have to use them. Although this often gets into the old Windows vs. Linux type discussion. There is a reason why Windows based Pc's outsell others, and for the same reason iPads outsell their Android counterparts (or at least they did the last I knew). Now, if you want to save a few $$, and just need to check mail and surf the web, you can get by with an Android. Just my opinion, but if I had my way I would only support iOS devices, but we support some Androids in other parts of the world and it is apparently much more costly to purchase iOS devices in those countries.
