An engine is an air pump. As pistons move up or down and displace air, breathers take in or displace air from the crank case. For as much air is moved up or down, air gets moved around, traveling the same direction. If an engine was perfect with no leaks, whatever is moved around in the crank case would stay there between cylinders, but nothing is perfectly air tight. My guess, you have a breather blocked or rings blowing by, and the air is trying to ventilate where ever it can. If you have actual bad o-rings at the dipstick tube, chances are that you can get replacements from an auto parts store that carries "DORMAN" products (orange steel drawers).
