Had a similar problem on a customers Cadillac.
One fuse feeding multiple circuits.
Did as you did and temporarily replaced fuse with resettable breaker to keep the juice flowing.
Took an infrared thermometer and was able to track down the offending circuit in the harness by following temp rise in the wiring and narrowed it down to power door lock circuit.
