In 2018 my teaching license expires, so I must retire then or maybe earlier. I will then have more time to take better care of the farm and do a few projects with tractors. Am wondering about doing volunteer counseling or something like that.
Growing older is not a bad thing- as they say, it beats the alternative. However, learn to slow down. Stay active, but don't overdo. Some of the heavy work should best be left to the younger generation if you have that option. My dad tried to turn over a little of the work to my sister who stayed at home, but she wasn't able to do it. At 75, he started planning on slowing down, but he should have started earlier. He wore himself out and died too young. The moral of the story is- stay active, but don't overdo and retain a hope for the future, continue to make a few plans.
