Last time I had an eye exam was about 4 years ago. Went to a new place that I hadn't used before. Had the exam done, nothing unusual, just the basics, reasonable price.
Then was told to go to the fitting room for frame selection... There I encountered a middle age lady, wearing lots of bling, not sure if it was real, but when she spoke, out came this extremely fake, exaggerated, high society, whining voice, like something you would hear in an exclusive Hollywood boutique! She proceeded to show me the basic wire frames I requested.
"Oh yes, you have made a very wise decision with those, you'll just love those frames!" on and on she gushed.
"How much?"
"Oh those lovely frames are only $785.00."
"WHAT! Let's go for the economy model!"
"Welllllll... We have these for $450.00.!
As Rick Harrison on Pawn Stars would say "Not gonna' happen! Just give me my prescription so I can go now please!"
And I did, went to Lux Optical, 2 pair no-line bifocals, $149.00 with a coupon.
