No, I'm not OK with dishonesty. But I'm not about to tell everyone that so and so is having an affair. As far as someone running for public office? Show me one who has never, ever lied. In fact show me one human who has never uttered a lie. I am not going to fault human nature. That's my whole point. If they are faithfully discharging the duties they were elected/hired to perform then as far as the office they hold they are being honest to the voters/employer. Having an affair is being dishonest with the respective spouses. But when the one was sworn in I bet no mention of marital affairs were in the oath nor was there a morals clause for the employee.
If you do a little research you will find that few animals to include humans are naturally monogamous. Humans lie to. That's all there is to it. Regardless what "the good book" says it's human nature.
Now I like to think of myself as a fairly honest person. I do try. But.......I have relatives who I don't think much of. Affairs are the least of it. Booze, drugs, theft and other illegal activity are a few of the things that they do. No I don't see them much. Don't care to be in their company. But I'm polite when I run into them in town and at family functions. That's not how I feel so I'm being dishonest when I'm around them. Is that wrong? Should I, at the next family thing, jump up and tell them "stay away you dope head/drunk/cheater/thief" instead? Would you do as I do to keep the peace in the family? Or would you tear the family apart being 100% honest?
