Eggs will take on any strong flavor of the food the chicken eats. (You do know where the egg comes out of right?). Fish meal that has gone rancid will do that. The omega fatty acids that are popular right now primarily are of fish origin. Not a stretch to think some overly aromatic fish meal got used in the feed. A large portion of commercial poultry feed is animal based, chickens are meat eaters. Some people like hot sauce on their eggs.
