Your question is not clear? Are you building a gable roof? Metal roof? Shingles?
The common pitch around my neck of the woods for shingles is a 4/12 which is 1 ft drop in 3 ft. So if you make your own trusses, gable roof, there would be a 1 ft, 4 inch drop from center to edge. If you plan to make roof high at one side and lower at other side, then 2 ft 8 inch drop in 8 ft.
