My wife got 12 more golden comet chickens we had 8 now i need to build a new chicken coop. I have never built anything with a slant roof always truses. so here goes it is going to be a 8x8x8 slant roof with a 8ft high roof what would you guys recommend hieght for the low wall?
trying too keep as much space as possible. WE live in western PA. as always I thank you all for your help

If it where me I would not go shorter the 6 foot for the low wall. That would give you a 2 foot drop in 8 foot. You will also want the roof to hang over all around it by about a foot or you have water running down the out sides of the walls which is not a good thing

Your question is not clear? Are you building a gable roof? Metal roof? Shingles?

The common pitch around my neck of the woods for shingles is a 4/12 which is 1 ft drop in 3 ft. So if you make your own trusses, gable roof, there would be a 1 ft, 4 inch drop from center to edge. If you plan to make roof high at one side and lower at other side, then 2 ft 8 inch drop in 8 ft.

I had pigeon coops with a slant roof, seems they always catch a lot of wind and rain on the high wall. Consider an offset gable. then you can have a significant over hang that will actually get water away from the front and also give it a little more shade. Wind events will also push down on the building if from that side. A shed roof is a shed roof, give it a little class, Think about the offset gable. gobble
