Toyota was making the army 4x4 transport that developed into the Land Cruiser- sort of Chevy based variation of Dodge weapons Carrier 3/4 ton utility. Toyota had been assigned the chevy assembly plant taken over by Japanese Government late 1930s- Chevy 6 bolt wheels and Axle Hub from 1/2 ton pickup, car axle became a Japanese army and government standard. Honda ? not around as a company yet- Sicoro Honda was in Army signals/communications corp(?) working on some portable generators and got familiar with small engines and post war put some of them on reinforced bicycle frames.
