I picked up a "made in the USA" name brand battery powered razor from the PX in the late 80's. Got it home and went to put batteries in it and a sticker inside the battery compartment said "made in China". When I pulled the head off to clean it there was another "made in China" sticker. I honestly believe that the razor shipped as the body and the head. Once here a worker snapped that head on and it was packaged with "made in the USA" in big red letters on the package. I think they need to define "made" and "assembled".
As far as sales people go. I have no idea about the store where you got it but if you go to any box store most of the sales staff have absolutely no idea about anything they are selling or only know what the manager told them.
