I'm thinking seriously about having CPS apply my NH3 instead of side dressing later. My farm is sandy hill ground, all my neighbors put it on before planting, but I fear leaching if we get lots of rain. The down side to side dressing when corn is up, my old applicator is 5 knife and after all the turning on the ends, the end rows are pretty thin. I seeded rye cover crop last fall, and it got a late start. Rye is small and just starting to green up. When I spray the burndown, I will add pre emerge herbicide. Should I have it applied as soon as possible, so that the rye will have time to come back before spraying and be worried about N loss OR, have them apply after I spray and just before planting and possibly have weed strips across the field where fertilizer knives disturb the soil? I plan to spray burndown between April 15 and 20 weather permitting. Any thoughts?? Chris
