That reminds me of decades ago when I lived and worked in Chicago. Used to see people on every corner downtown in the Loop begging for money. Used to be a guy that hung around at the Opera House begging little kids for money as they'd get off the school bus when some schools would take field trips to museums, opera house, etc.
I remember one time when I walked out for lunch and was bringing it back, there was a panhandler waiting outside, begging that he was hungry. OK, I was in a good mood and took the guy into the restaurant and told him to order whatever kind of sandwich and drink he wanted. He started screaming at me that he didn't want the sandwich, he wanted the money. Another time when I got off the commuter train in the morning, walking to work. There was a fella ringing the bell for donations about a month after the holiday season, screaming angrily at people that it didn't need to be the holidays for us to give.
Takes all types, but you have to give them one thing. They make the days more interesting. Not necessarily fun, but interesting.
