I agree with others, better pull the head. That Perkins engine is made two ways, early indirect injection has flat top pistons, head has pre chambers. Late direct injection has the cup in the piston fuel is injected into. Both are dry sleeve engines, some had chrome plating on the sleeve ID with plain cast iron rings. At least if the valves are stuck you won't bend push rods, there aren't any...
