Freeing a stuck 65 massey Diesel engine

Hello, I recently acquired a Massey 65 diesel that has a stuck engine. The last time it had been started was in the mid 1990's. I don't really know anything about masseys, as I have always only had Deere. Other than loading the cylinders up with diesel, and letting them soak, does anybody have any suggestions or things to watch out for while freeing this up? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Filling the cylinder with diesel will not help a thing. First you have to make sure it does not have water in the cylinders. If it does have water then your looking at a total engine rebuild. If the cylinders are dry you need to fill them with a 50/50 mix of turpentine and ATF and let it sit a few weeks that way. Then with the injectors out try to spin it over with the starter using short fast taps of the switch

I agree with "old" plus I always remove the valve cover and tap each valve to be sure they are free. So far I've been pretty succesful at this method (probably more luck than anything else )

This is a good excuse to buy an inspection camera to look inside all the cylinders before doing anything.
I use a mixture of acetone & atf for soaking. If it's sitting on hard surface, leave in high gear and rock it every time you walk by after a few days of soaking. If tires are flat or it's on soft ground, jack a wheel up.Set it on blocks if there's kids around your place.
If it has a working block heater, alternate between letting it heat a few hours then cooling for 24 while it soaks.
At least many of the parts are in high demand if you can't save the engine.

It's cheaper to purchase a gasket set then disasemble the engine . No bent connecting rods or busted valve train. Plus you will be glad that the trash in the engine was washed out.

As much as I hate to admit it I agree. If you think
it's worth messing with it's at least worth pulling
the head.

I agree with others, better pull the head. That Perkins engine is made two ways, early indirect injection has flat top pistons, head has pre chambers. Late direct injection has the cup in the piston fuel is injected into. Both are dry sleeve engines, some had chrome plating on the sleeve ID with plain cast iron rings. At least if the valves are stuck you won't bend push rods, there aren't any...
