I had a quick-and-dirty shed I put up in 1985 to keep my truck under while I went to my last Navy duty station in Iceland.
It was build on treated 4x4's dug set about 3 feet into the ground. The dirt was 8 or 10 inches of loam over clay, with pin gravel under that. Backfilled with what came out of the hole, no special attention paid to drainage.
You can see the old shed on the right.
When I tore the shed down 15-odd years later, I pulled the 4x4's out of the ground. They looked as good as the day I set them. In fact, I used them in the ell on the barn that replaced the shed.
