I planted Roundup ready alfalfa about 7 years ago (I think). Ironic, because I have never even sprayed it. The stand is still as good as it was back then. It's only about a four acre patch. I find that it is like brome hay. If you plant more than you may ever need suddenly you are delivering hay for not enough money, waiting on people to show up at 2:00, and they are 45 minutes late before they call and tell you they can't make it because their sister-in-law needed a ride to the airport.
Anyway, alfalfa needs moisture but well drained soil. I have another pasture that I would like to use next but I don't think it drains well enough.
