I recently rolled the lawn with a 4-ft roller weighing about 400 lbs. Seemed to do a fair job. Of course it doesn't mash down the thick clumps of grass, but does take care of those small, fresh "hills" of dirt. Used a 13hp Wheelhorse lawn tractor with chains on. Wouldn't have made the slopes otherwise. I think if a guy did this once a year every year, the lawn might become pretty decent.
