Been a lot of years since I have ran my 6 volt tractors. But back a few years we had a JD440 crawler and the best I could hope for was 3 years out of one. I could pull it out of that and put in something easier starting like a model B or H and get a few more years from them. I don't think 6 volt batteries are built very good. I always seem to get one that weeps fluid and then eats up the battery box. I have had much better luck from 12 volt batteries. Now the Optima 6 volt is being built that may be the way to go but I think you can buy about 3 6 v from TSC for the price of 1 optima.
