I work on transmissions at Ford dealership. The TSS sensor or OSS sensor can cause this issue. Sometimes they will quit for a second, then start working a again. May or may not set a code. They are located inside transmission under main control. If you can take it to a dealer they should have information on it. The new sensors have been updated to work better. It is best to always replace both sensors at same time.
