Wonder if they were the original owner. Trouble with fire departments is low mileage and high (really high sometimes) hours. With the Scout it's a toss up. I can't see how it could have been used all that hard, yet, volunteers can put some rough usage on a vehicle. The picture looks great, and if it was kept inside all it's life, rust shouldn't be an issue on it. The lettering doesn't look all that old, so there is the possibility of a repaint. If I had money and wanted one this would be the hardest decision ever!
We have a 1978 Chevy C65 with a PTO pump that carries 2000 gallons of water. Bought it new, only 12,000 miles and looks like a low mileage truck, inside and out. Bet it's got a million hours on that engine though, sitting, pumping water at 2500 to 3000 rpm's.
