Buddy of mine on my first tour at Ft Riley had a Chevy II with an auto on the floor. Now this was "back in the day" no child seats requited. His wife was holding the baby and the baby kicked the gear shift from D to R. Cost him an engine. Same guy was later accused of child abuse. Turned out a baby sitter had beat his daughter to a pulp. Baby was sleeping/unconscious when they got home. They didn't know about till the baby woke up/came to screaming. It took almost a year for he and his wife to clear themselves. Case of guilty until proven innocent by the Army even though he lived off post. Man they promoted him fast after they finally found the baby sitter (she fled right after it happened) 150 miles away. Her running prevented the civilian authority from prosecuting him and his wife. When she was picked up she confessed right away. Mike went from Pvt E2 to Spc E4 in about 4 months.
