I installed my first one in 1994, worked great, lightning took controller out in 1996, got new controller (underground fence brand), I reburied a new line in 2002 (had a neighbor that liked to till over the property line once they figured out where/what the line was....) they moved in 2002, Fence has been used for my last 3 dogs, all black lab mix, once dog is trained on it easy to keep them in, We go thru routine when walk time so he knows collar is in garage and it is "safe" to cross the line. I have about 1500' line buried, expensive to put in but the dog keeps deer away, and gets tons of excersize
