The mounting of the cylinder is set up the same way as the original. The original cylinder had two hoses that connected to the two ports on the cylinder I would assume is the valve. The cylinder I put on has two ports for the two hoses just like the original wouldn't that be the valve? I Apologize for my ignorance on these issues but I'm not a hydraulic expert.
