Not totally sure about that, but I bought a well used IH 456 4 row corn planter on an auction in '79. I had just graduated high school and needed something to get the corn in. I thought I would make it do until I could afford something better. It ticked away planting 100 acres of corn per year until last year when I bought a nice used IH 950 narrow row. It sits out back of the machine shed. I don't have the heart to cut it up for scrap.
