Most bare bones tractor if it is back in the years like 1940 t0 the early 1960 are usally 6 volts. The best way to find out is put a voltage meter to your battery take a reading on it find out if it is 6 volts or 12 volts. If converting over to a 12 volt system best is to do is a altenator (delco Remdy is will liked) because they have the voltage regulator built in side of them plus there easy to wire up. Some of my older tractor I have converted ovet to 12 volts and used a 12 volt generator with a 12 regulator.
