If you can't get a block heater plumbed in before the next cold spell, a hot air gun (paint stripper) held at the intake will help a lot. Warming the intake with a propane torch or holding it at he intake helps too. The intake suction usually will snuff out the flame when it starts, so an electric hot air gun works better.
