I retired from 30 years as a insurance claims supervisor. Of Crop Insurance. And hail insurance policies cover fire to the crop. So we got called out a lot to look at crops that had burned. And in Arkansas the policies covered "picker basket fires" in cotton. Now I am not talking about the machine, just the crop.
Picker basket fires are real common.
Big round baler fires are pretty common.
Never heard of a small square baler fire, but it could happen.
Your agent was all wet. Go somewhere else that specalizes in Farm insurance.
Since I retired from Farm Bureau, I would probably recommend them. Should be an office in every county in farm country.
And you dont have to insure everything.
For instance, an old $2,000 baler, I would probably leave off.
Only insure stuff you would want replaced if you lost it.
