I guess I don't know how the mis-match of the center holes causes an issue or what the miss-match looks like to comment. Could you post some pictures so we can more clearly see the issue. I am assuming the goal is to be able to still adjust the wheel spacing without removing the weights and have a nice clean looking installation.
My only comment is the obvious drilling/cutting but I expect you are looking for something more clever then that. Of course the other idea is to trade the weights for the size you need.
If not there already, put a ROPS on that tractor. You cannot be too careful, especially with the safety of your son.
