Re: 400 case fuel pressure in reply to napaguy, 09-08-2010 17:30:54
There is a relief valve on the outlet of the second stage filter (outlet is towards the fuel tank) to allow fuel to bypass the third stage filter back to the fuel tank if the third stage filter becomes plugged. Sounds like the relief valve is stuck shut and there is a blockage downstream of the third stage filter? (I am assuming fuel will flow or did flow freely through the filter.) Good place to check is the flexible hose on the outlet side of the third stage to injection pump, when those deteriorate the rubber interior comes apart and they can plug internally. Napa 3191 is the correct filter for this, have used them for several years now. Be interested to know if he had it running and filter blew? Is his fuel pressure gauge any good? It should have pegged under this kind of presssure.
Alhambra Case ****I checked all the filters and I had clean fuel from stage 1, stage 2 and the final stage. I started the tractor and the final stage fuel filter than blew out the bottom of the filter when it was running. I did see the fuel pressure gauge go all the way to the right. Do I have a bigger problem?

The front end center pin bushing was worn also so I ask that they replace it if they had time. Well, that’s wha
