My farm is pretty rocky on the hillside and sandy on the river so a disc mower has to take some abuse. These mowers are a lot better than a sickle and may be fine for just a few acres. I typically cut about 400 acres a year which is really not much, the blade discs have holes worn in them and the skid plates are worn thin. There are other mowers out there that hold up much better and are really not that much more expensive.
