and a phone call with rrlund, I got one to post.
See post above on lightning damage. Apparently my
sooper whooper many pixel camera was overwhelming
the sites ability to handle pixels. Randy had me
severely snipping my pictures.
I know you got it, but for general info, one free tool I didn't see mentioned is this. Some basic photo editing too. You can do one or highlight multiple at a time. Select them, click on export, select the save location, size, quality, then click export and it's done. And if you have a gmail account it can back them up to a private album online (or share if you want). You don't need a gmail account to use it, and uncheck the option to send usage statistics when you install it.

On the Linux side I use DigiKam. Picasa works too, but it takes some steps to install it.

Flip phones/phones in general I see mentioned, cable works fine. But depending on the phone, you can get a little bluetooth adapter for the computer, less than $5 sometimes. Then you can connect your phone wirelessly. Doesn't always work, like I said, depends, but thought I'd mention it.
Here's an image resized with Picasa using the default settings and selecting 800 for the resize.
