I've tried and tried. Don't see how to post pictures directly off my computer onto a posting, without putting them some where on a site external to my computer. Have tried both classic and modern views...

Yep,

You've got to post 'em up on the internet somewhere before you can 'em in a post.

Someone will be along with the details, I'm sure.

I do all mine from classic. Go to the bottom and click "upload photo". Click "choose file". Select the file in your computer or phone. Click on the pic you want. The number or identifier (whatever computer word that is) will show next to "choose file". Once that's there click "upload", the wait for the pic to appear in the photo box. Depending on your internet speed that can happen instantly or take several minutes. Here's where most beginners mess up, after the pic shows in the box you have to click continue to the upper left of the photo. Once that's done you can either do it again for another pic or click "preview" then post it.

No you don't. When I post from Classic,I click "upload photo",then when I click "browse" it takes me right to my files in my computer. I click on the picture I want to post then click "open",then upload and wait for the thumbnail to come up in the box, then "continue".

No need to put them anywhere else. I do it directly from my puter, tablet, and phone. I haven't figured out how to do videos directly yet tho. I know some do it, but I don't know how.

Works the same in Modern too.

Go down to upload photos, click "Browse" select your photo, and it automatically puts it in your post for you:

I take all my pictures that I want to use with my phone. Then use a USB cable and hook it to my computer. Open the flip phone and follow the prompts. They are then in a file in the computer. Then like Jon said click upload photo and follow his directions.

Ray,

You can upload directly from "Pictures"
files stored right on your computer. (I have
never used a hosting site like photo bucket).

BUT you do have to make sure the files are not
too large… someone else will have to help you
there – because I use a purchased photo program
to reduce my pixels.

I always post from Classic View (so there may be
different instructions for Modern View... and
from a phone or iPad, I'm no help at all).

This is for uploading photos with all the text
below the group of photos.

I post on Modern view, have photo downloaded on my computer and just click on box "choose files" then click on my photo then click submit. EASY PEASY!

I just got chores done. I'm heading out to chop. I'll be in the house from around noon til 12:30,call me then if you need to.

Follow what Sweet Feet posted, it will work just about every time. All your image url's need to end with jpg. Hal

OK, but going to advanced posting tools, it
doesn't want to upload a selected picture. Now
what?

If your photos are too large to post here on the
forum, and I have no idea what the size limits
are, just use the windows paint program to re-size
them smaller. Of course if you don't have windows
paint that is no help at all but it works quick
and easy for any photos I have on the computer or
camera card.

I move the photos I want to post to my "documents" folder. Then when I click on browse, it opens the folder and I choose, then hit upload, after it shows at the right click "continue" before posting.
I hope you can understand my rambling, but it works for me.

You used to have to have your pics at another site, but now you can do it directly. Unless they "grandfathered" you "out" so you have to do it the other way. LOL

How long are you waiting? With CMS it can take several minutes per picture. There have been days I've given up because after a few minutes it'll say "Page cannot be displayed".

Hey thanks for all the suggestions... Between them
and a phone call with rrlund, I got one to post.
See post above on lightning damage. Apparently my
sooper whooper many pixel camera was overwhelming
the sites ability to handle pixels. Randy had me
severely snipping my pictures.

I know you got it, but for general info, one free tool I didn't see mentioned is this. Some basic photo editing too. You can do one or highlight multiple at a time. Select them, click on export, select the save location, size, quality, then click export and it's done. And if you have a gmail account it can back them up to a private album online (or share if you want). You don't need a gmail account to use it, and uncheck the option to send usage statistics when you install it.

On the Linux side I use DigiKam. Picasa works too, but it takes some steps to install it.

Flip phones/phones in general I see mentioned, cable works fine. But depending on the phone, you can get a little bluetooth adapter for the computer, less than $5 sometimes. Then you can connect your phone wirelessly. Doesn't always work, like I said, depends, but thought I'd mention it.

Here's an image resized with Picasa using the default settings and selecting 800 for the resize.

We did OK for two old goats that couldn't find their backsides with both hands didn't we? lol

We found out if you just copy them using the snipping tool that's already installed in the computer, then post the copy,it changes the picture to a format that loads in a hurry.

Wasn't doubting you guys, saw you were doing ok. At least a couple ways to do it without installing anything. But for a free program, Picasa does excellent as well, and isn't that big of a download. Not too bad to browse through all your photos either. Takes just a second to resize like I mentioned, plus the photo editing it has is a bit more than the stuff that is in Windows by default. The automatic backup is decent too, with your account, easy way to share a bunch of pictures if you want, you can link to the whole album, backed up/uploaded without doing anything but turning that feature on and being signed in. I've installed it for a few people and they like it, so just thought I'd mention it, because I've found some people don't know about it.

For backing up photos and videos in general, there are a few other services to use as well, some free.

The bluetooth thing, I don't do that either, my main flip phone doesn't take great pictures anyway, one neighbor wanted that set up. He can have his phone in the other room charging and grab pictures off of it without getting up to get it.

Couple screen shots. First is the resizing, second is the editor. When you install it asks where your photos are saved (default is the picture folder of course). It then sorts them by date like that (without actually moving photos around, just for display). Then you can scroll down on the right through all the photos in all the other folders, and select the ones you want to work with.
