I doubt John Deere will reign in on advertising since world wide its a billion dollar industry for mother deere. They practically invented how to sell their name vs. selling actual product.
JD has allowed people to put their name on anything from coffee cups to toilet seats so long as they paid the royalty fee. CNH is a good example of both sides of the coin. They're trying to bury the J.I.Case history and heritage within the company so other than a few toys and your random odd sign or thermometer, they don't license the J.I.Case name or logo to anyone. But go to a toy show, tractor show, CaseIH dealership, Tractor Supply or a Walmart and, like deere, you can buy any article of clothing, yard art, tools or trinket you can imagine with the IH or Farmall logo on it. And CNH, like deere, gets big bucks for licensing all that stuff.
