What the heck is it about dogs anyway? Besides relatives I have lost two best friends (human) to untimely deaths. I was very depressed each time but eventually got over it. My SIL got this Yorkshire terrier as a house warming gift 14 years ago and even though I didn't particularly care for dogs it seemed to take a shine to me. We had been absolute best friends over the years (even more so than his owner) and I would take care of him often while she was away on business. He died (just complications of old age) in the early spring. I wasn't just depressed, I was and still am devastated. I can't and probably never will get over it. I think of him every day even to the point of tears and it wasn't even my darn dog. Someone explain this thing about dogs to me.
