I know how you feel because I was like that myself. I went for years without pets just to spare myself the pain. My wife always had dogs so she talked me in to having pets again years ago. What I've learned is that it's part of our own personal growth, after losing some beloved pets over the years now with the ones we have I'm a little bit slower to get angry with them, and make it a point to share some time with them that I otherwise might not have. It never easy to deal with the loss of friends, but it's part of life. I can now go back and look at pictures of the pets that are gone and there's a happiness along with the sadness that is hard to explain.
