It would have to be a 986. I use a JD4440 everyday. I really like the tractor but the quadrange makes me mad. At anything above A range reverse is too fast, but A range is to slow to do most work. When I am doing something like using the MoCo on an odd shaped field I end up riding the clutch to back up as I am mowing in B2. If I backed up in B1 I would be in the next county instead of five feet over and back!
We had a 1086 - loved it. If the HP range was bigger that would be my choice.
