Worked at golf course and the greens mower(14 HP Kohler) wanted to over rev and had no power. The governor shaft broke. They had another machine that blew the balance gear out the side of the block. I took the block to a specialty welding shop and they brazed a mild steel plate on to fix the hole. When the engine was put back together, they just left the balance gear off since the 12HP is basically the same engine but doesn't use a balance gear. The engine ran fine. I wish I would have taken some before and after pictures of the block. The hole was as big as a tennis ball. Lots of preheat and slow cooling. The engine would make an interesting conversation piece.
