It is a great country where we have such a choice. As for me, I am thankful for the power company as I love the fact that when I flip the switch the lights come on, and I have zero maintenance to do for it. On those rare times when the power is out their crews are out there in the storm or the cold working to restore it.
Given that it only costs me $57 a month on average billing for a four bedroom, 3 bathroom home in town, I feel like I get great value for my money. But if you like it off-grid then I celebrate your right to do as you please.
