The big rub is on the back of your meter, there is a switch that is adjustable,it says "fast --slow" or "F-- S" depending on the age.The power company can read the meter and speed indicator and they don't really have to read your rate, they just increase the speed of the meter from slow to fast, it all depends on their generosity, and where the switch is located. The power company supplies the meter and they set the tempo.
Last year we received a rebate from our power company, the government got on their case because of overcharges. The check was pretty hefty, then the next few months, the electric co. decided to increase their rates. It's a no win situation. What one hand giveth, the other taketh away.lol. We do have a small generator to take care of power outage,but we are looking for a big one (whole house) it would be nice to find one that is steam operated,we could buy extra wood.lol.(here they come)
I realize you have solar power and all the trimmings,but do you have a electric service backup from the electric co? Just curious?
I was always tempted to send the power company my CD playing and titled "You Light up My Life".
