There is a Higher power involved in our lives. I know it. There have been times in my life that there seemed to be something pushing me to do something or another different than what I would normally have done. The "change" of pattern worked out better then normal would have.

Also some people seem to be better "connected" than others. Had a fellow in my unit in Nam. He would get feelings about stuff. He was almost always right. We learned to pay heed to his "feelings". They saved our bacon several times.

The most stark one was a LZ drop he refused to do. We where over the drop off point and he just turned white as a ghost an said we need to go to another place other than this one. The pilot even went low and we looked it all over from the air. The area looked fine. Our Captain listened to the fellow and we went on to our secondary drop zone. The next day another patrol was dropped off in that first drop zone. They did not even make it to the trees before they where done. The VC had a ambush setup in the drop zone. If we had dropped there the day before we would have been DEAD too.

There where other times when he was on point he would all of a sudden leave the trail we where on for no apparent reason. He could not even tell you why he felt it was right to do it but usually his change was the right thing to do.

He was no super tracker or anything either. He was a smaller red headed Irishman from Queens New York. He had never been out in the woods until he joined the service. He was a very devout Catholic man. Maybe that played a role.

He said he had gotten feelings like that all of his life. Good man. I am sure he is at his Lord's side now. He passed several years ago.

So I do believe we are guided at times.

Today's Featured Article - The Day Mom Drove the 8N - by Brian Browning. My Dad was wanting to put in a garden but couldn't operate the 8N and handle the old horse drawn plow he had found and rigged up to use with the tractor. Well, he decided to go get Mom out of the house and have her drive the tractor while he walked behind the plow. You got to understand that while my Mom is a hard worker who will always help whenever she can... she had never operated farm machinery before that day. Dad got her out there, explained how the clutch was the same as in our o ... [Read Article]
