Remove the sending unit and install a working pressure gauge. Have someone to spin over the engine while you watch the pressure gauge. If there's no pressure I wouldn't run the engine until you drain the oil and remove the oil pan. Some engines had pipe plugs and someone may have forgotten to install them. They were in the cam shaft area. Pull the oil pump and set it in a clean container of engine oil and spin the drive gear to see if it will prime itself. My co-worker had that happen on a 1962 Ford car. The idiot light cam on and the hydraulic valves starting to get noisy. The relief valve had opened and was full of sludge from short drives.
