Had the same happen to me except the piece of round stock that was used to hold the guide on my snowplow decided to break off when I hit it with the hammer. Looked around for the piece in the snow and then started to see red in the snow. It was my blood dripping from my forehead. The piece flew up and hit me square in the middle of my forehead and I never felt a thing. Put my hand over my head and the blood wouldn't stop. Walked to the house, tried to clean up the mess. Called my wife who at the time was at the neighbours and she came home to find blood all over the fresh snow. She panicked, she figured I lost a part of me somewhere. Turns out it was a 3/4 inch moon shape cut, but it bled like it was a severed limb.10 stitches later and now my daughter calls me dent head. Things can go the wrong way fast.
